A young Republic wakes to a question written not in ink, but in sacrifice.
Barely six winters since freedom’s dawn, the map already trembles,
uncertain of how it has been drawn.
For India was never meant to be still-
She was born with a thousand tongues; in songs by the river,
In prayers by the flame,
each voice different, yet belonging to the same name.
From the districts once stitched into Madras,
Where language had no claim and identity bore weight,
To the corridors of New Delhi where destiny waited,
The Republic now faces a question no line can quiet:
Should a nation command the voices that give it its name,
Or must the map itself listen, and answer their claim?
History pauses here-
In this fragile moment between sentiment and statecraft,
Where a young Union must decide whether its many voices are a threat to its unity,
Or the very proof of it.
Redraw the lines, and unity may strain.
Neglect them, and justice may wane.
Presenting the High-Level State Reorganization Commission of India (HSRCI):
“Deliberating upon redrawing India’s internal boundaries in response to linguistic movements while safeguarding constitutional stability and territorial integrity.”
An Emergency Historic Review Session
Freeze Date: 16 December 1952 (One day after the death of Potti Sriramulu)
This May,
We recall what has been forgotten since.
This May,
Conceive, Concur, Convince.
